CUASWA organized Chittagong University Alumni Meet at FOBANA 2018 in Atlanta

Under the leadership of CUASWA, Chittagong university alumni from all over USA joined this year’s FOBANA convention in Atlanta during July 27 – 29, 2018 weekend.  The convention was held at Georgia World Congress Center, in the same complex as CNN Headquarters, at the heart of vibrant city of Atlanta.

At the main FOBANA stage CUASWA presented a 30 minutes program containing welcome speech(es) by CUASWA Founding President Mr. Raihanul Islam Chowdhury and ex-CUCSU General Secretary Dr. Jamir Chowdhury, an Introduction to Chittagong University by Mr. Sarowar Kamal, a dance by Kashfia (an alumnus Lutfun Nahar Bhuiyan’s daughter), followed by a series of songs by our very popular and famous singer/artist, Mr. Tajul Imam.

Also, at the FOBANA stage CUASWA presented a Chittagong University Badge of Honor to the legendary singer S. I. Tutul, another distinguished alumnus of Chittagong University.

Besides the main stage program, CUASWA arranged a separate program for Chittagong University Alumni, with a tea party, where a number of alumni issues were discussed.

Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury appointed Chittagong University VC

A message mentioning the appointment was faxed to the university, Prof Chowdhury told bdnews24.com.

“University Chancellor President Md Abdul Hamid has appointed me vice chancellor for the next four years,” he added.

He will take charge on June 15, replacing Professor Anwarul Azim Arif.

Prof Azim was appointed on June 14, 2011.

Sociology professor Chowdhury was appointed pro-VC in 2013.

No-one has been named to replace Prof Chowdhury for the pro-VC’s post.

Anti-quota demo: Chittagong University students sweep street with certificates on neck

A group of Chittagong University students staged a unique demonstration on the campus this morning demanding reformation of the existing quota system in cadre service and other government jobs.

Around 300 students under the banner of Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Parishad (BSCP), of the university, held a ‘Street Cleaning Campaign’ programme in front of the university’s gate No. 1 to press home their demand.

In the protest programme, a number of students hanging their certificates on their neck, were seen sweeping the streets.

Job seekers across the country have been demanding reformation of the existing quota system.
